| Goodbye MBNA / Bank of America... Hello GSI Commerce |
I'm sitting at my desk here at the bank typing up this blog entry because today is my last day.
I cut a 6 month contract short to take a full-time position. While my boss was not thrilled, I at least hope she understands my decision... look for work when my contract expires in October or take the gig sitting on the plate now.
And what a gig it is! I'll be working for GSI Commerce in King of Prussia, PA as a Sr. Performance Analyst. As I stated before, it's full time, not a contract. It's casual/casual (jeans & t-shirt), I get 4 weeks of vacation per year, and I'm making a shitload of money!!! I mean really, a shitload of money. 
So who/what is GSI Commerce?
GSI Commerce is a web hosting company. If you've ever been to the web site for Dick's Sporting Goods, Radio Shack, Toys R Us, Zales, etc. You've been to a web site created and hosted by the good folks at GSI Commerce. In simplest terms, Amazon.com is a competitor of GSI Commerce.
Now that you know about GSI Commerce you're saying, "Dave, what the hell is a Sr. Performance Analyst?" That's easy. When you're surfing ToysRUs.com this Christmas season and you're saying, "Damn this sight is slow," I'll be the one that gets called to find out why. Once that's done, it's my job to create and execute a plan of attack to fix the performance issue.
Those of you that know me, know I'm a problem solver. Present me with a problem and I'll provide you with a solution... usually not what you expected but something totally out of the box.
So tell me folks, does this seem like the perfect gig for me? |

When BLOGging, NEVER list your place of employment. If you have a bad day or a bad run-in with a manager or co-worker, everyone already knows who you're talking about :-)
Trust me on this one... I have experience in these matters.
