| Another New Job Today |
Today Jimmy started his first job!
Jimmy is working at the country club snack bar in a dual role as an expediter and Point of Sale person. In layman's terms... he gets the food from the cook (the guy on the grill) and rings people up.
He's pretty excited and he gets some nice benefits too. First, he gets all the free food and drink he wants. Second, he gets a free membership to the pool at the country club (it'll be interesting to see if I get a refund since I already paid for his membership). Third, he gets to bring up to 2 guests in with him to swim for only $1 each.
We had to do the working papers thing because he's under 18. I forgot what a pain in the ass that is. We also braced him for the let down of his first check or two. See, the township takes a $52 Occupational Privilege Tax out of your first check in addition to Federal, State, Social Security, and Medicare. If they can't get it all from the first check, they get the balance from your second check.
Typical government bullshit... always reaching into your pockets for more money. When I was his age, the tax was $10 from your first check. Damn, that a 520% increase in taxes!!!
Anyway, it's pretty funny... working at the country club. All I can think of is Caddy Shack and the doody. Speaking of Caddy Shack, I leave you with this...

Don't forget, he gets tips. He's only been getting about $2 a day, but it's something in your hand at the end of shift and not taxes! Mic

That sucks, his Grandmother.

I agree. The Occupational Privilege Tax is crock. I can see $10 a year, but this is bogus. I stupid thing is the city/township/whatever can take UP TO $52 a year. So you could get screwed depending on where you actually work.
Perhaps we should kill all the politicians, regardless of political party, and just start over again.
