| $249... Am I Crazy? |
Well I've joined the ranks of crazy people (my brother included) that have spent way too much for a pair of sunglasses.
While down the shore, I purchased a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. These sunglasses really are the Cadillac of sunglasses... polarized, anti-reflective, anti-glare, optically correct, hi-impact polycarbonate, you name it. All I was looking for was a pair of RayBans.
I pointed out to Michele that during the summer my contacts make me very photo-sensitive. She knew a $10 pair of Foster Grants wouldn't be a good idea. She didn't seem to have a problem with the $99 RayBans either. Made by Bausch & Lomb, they were polarized and made of good quality optical glass. However, the styles available made me look like a total dork.
The sales guy obviously showed me his top of the line sunglasses. They were an aviator style and didn't make me look like a dork. They didn't make me look like Maverick or Ice Man either but hey, you have to take the good with the bad.
Anyway, I discussed it with Michele and I justified the cost by spreading it out over 5+ years (that's how long I get from my sunglasses). At $50 a year, I figured it's a good buy.
So, my question to you dear readers... am I crazy for spending $249 on a pair of sunglasses? Leave a comment and let me know. |

I spent $400 for my glasses.. if I want sun glass that would be $500.. $400 to see and another $100 to be in the dark.. If you wear them and you like them you are not crazy. After all, you are paying $3.25 a gallon for gas.. how much gas can you get for $249??

Maui Jim's are AWESOME! I would have sold you my old ones for $24.90 (hee hee). I had to get prescrip sunglasses and made sure they were polarized like my MJ's, but they're not as protective. Sadly, the MJ's just sit in the car as a spare pair for my passengers.

Yes... you're absolutely crazy for spending $250 on a pair of sunglasses. Get the Happy Harry's $9.99 specials man because the first time you nick or scratch these, you're gonna soil yourself.

You ARE indeed crazy to spend $249.00 on sunglasses...isn't that what you have told me in the past? I don't think it's crazy, but good quality costs $$$, and if you like seeing then it's a good investment.

Wha..... I was at home in bed when you bought them. Just kidding! BTW It's not the glasses that make you look like a dork :-) Just kidding! The glasses look good now if we could just do something about your beach hat. Luv ya lots. PS Is it still to late to buy Jal's glasses? Love Mic

Dave -- Since my husband sells optical lenses he would say that price isn't so bad, just think if you had presciption lenses in them. Don't think that we get a discount on lenses or frames, because we don't, which is a total crap. You definetly need good, polarized lenses, especially on the beach....no glare. Good Luck with them...don't lose them. Your Cousin - Linda Evangelisti
