It's Finally Over
The 4th season of American Idol is finally over... Carrie Underwood, the country chick, won. God I hate country music, it sucks so bad that it actually makes me sleepy.

Anyway, is it just me or did they really need a 2 hour season finale? Blah blah blah. I don't need a recap of all the losers, I already saw them the first time around. I sure as hell don't need to see prior season losers either... William Hung anyone? Hey, Simon Fuller, do me a favor next year... keep the season finale to an hour!

Hmmm... what else is happening? Yesterday I was in a meeting with 8 others where we spent almost an hour reviewing a Power Point presentation. We discussed the order of the bullet points and debated over whether we should be using hyphens instead of slashes to separate words. I don't know about anyone else in that meeting but I have a growing to-do list of programs to write and reports to generate... I don't care whether we use hyphens or slashes!

I've been asked to mentor an intern that started last week. He seems pretty cool, we have quite a bit in common. The weird thing here is that I've only been with this new company for a little over 2 months and he's been with the company for 7 years. How do I mentor him? Also, why is a 7 year veteran considered an intern? Too strange if you ask me.

Either way, I'll do my best. Andy is the third person I've had the opportunity to mentor. I enjoy doing it and I think I've been doing pretty good job. Quang? Bill?

Oh well, it's getting late and I'm beat. More interesting thoughts to come as the spirit moves me.

It's not about "length of time with company," it's about experience & maturity. I was with our little brand of hell for many years before you joined up, but they thought I was a untalented little punk who could benefit from Dave-wisdom.

Just be his friend and the rest will come with time.
