Happy Mother's Day

Well today is Mother's Day everyone. Michele and I started the day by doing what we do that allows her to celebrate this day

. I also gave her my semi-annual Mother's Day gag gift... an ironing board cover! This started many years ago when she asked me to pick up an ironing board cover while I was getting other things at K-Mart. Apparently the iron board cover slipped out of the bag in the trunk of my car and I didn't realize it at the time. When I finally found the damn thing and gave it to her, it just happened to be on Mother's Day.

I suggested to the kids that Michele would probably want her van washed instead of an expensive gift. However, they're both pretty lazy when it comes to free labor so they opted to buy flowers and we ran the van through a carwash instead. Today we'll be hanging and planting flowers and then we'll wind the day down with a barbecue at Michele's mom's.

Unfortunately on such a beautiful day there is some bad news. We just got word that a family member is very sick and unless they make a major life-style change, they probably won't be here next year. To this person I say, "Make the change and get better. The world will be a much better place with you than without you."
