I Hate Low Flush Toilets
So I've been at this new company for almost a month now. I have to say, their bathrooms confirm another pet-peeve of mine... low flush toilets! Don't get me wrong, the bathroom where I am now is beautiful. 6 stalls + 1 handicap stall, 6 urinals, and 6 sinks. It's big and it's spotless. It even has a shoe polishing machine!

I'm sorry though, 1.6 gallons (6 liters) of water is NOT enough to flush a #2 and a couple of wads of TP away. It's also not enough to wash away the skid marks that are left behind.

When low flush toilets first came out, the manufacturers simply reduced the amount of water in the tank. It didn't take long to realize that 1.6 gallons of water wasn't even enough to fill the 3" pipe of the toilet let alone move a #2 through it. To solve that problem, they reduced the diameter of the toilets pipes to less-than 2" and behold... the low flush toilet. Great idea guys, not only don't we have enough water, now the pipe is only a fraction of an inch larger than what you're trying to flush (and we wonder why we have more clogs).

So now I have to flush 4 times to get everything down. That's 6.4 gallons of water, where's the savings? Housekeeping needs to clean the toilets more often... more water, even less savings. I wouldn't be surprised if we're actually using more water than the original toilets.

In my house I have a toilet upstairs and another one downstairs. When we re-modeled the upstairs bathroom, my buddy convinced me to buy a generic looking Kohler round toilet. I hate the thing. I've had more problems in the last two years with the new toilet than I had in the 13 years prior with the old toilet. When we re-modeled the downstairs bathroom, I bought a new low flush, presure assist toilet. This thing can suck down a small mammal. Except for the 1.6 gallons of water not being enough to eliminate skids, this is as good as it gets. Al Bundy would be proud me.

Oh man, I'm a 2 tablespoons of Metamucil guy, and those low-flush toilets still suck! Actually, if they sucked, they might work.
